Jacqueline J. Klapper, 85, of Dover and formerly of Strasburg, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
She was born on July 13, 1941, in Massillon, a daughter of the late Ralph Eberly and Mildred Dray Eberly Morton. Jackie was also preceded in death by her son, Chris “Bobby” Elesky; her first husband, Robert Elesky; her second husband, Walter Biehl; her third husband, Frank Klapper Jr., who passed away on March 8, 2024; her sister, June Wright; and her brothers, Ralph and David Eberly.
She began her career at the Central Trust Bank in Cleveland, later worked at Huntington Bank in Dover, and then was self-employed as a financial advisor for more than 30 years.
She was a member of the New Apostolic Church in Massillon and volunteered with the Salvation Army, where she also served on the board.The happiest day of her life was when she married Frank Klapper Jr. They loved spending time together, especially traveling. They visited Ireland, Oregon, and many other locations throughout the United States until Frank’s illness prevented them from doing so. She also enjoyed traveling with her friend, Leatha Howell; together they traveled to Russia, Ireland, and Great Britain. Jackie loved reading and was artistic, finding joy in painting with watercolors.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Elesky of Massillon; family friend Fran Hicks of Massillon; grandchildren Robert “Robby” (Alexandria) Elesky and Austin (Holly) Elesky; several great-grandchildren; and special friends Leatha Howell and Janice Clark.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Strasburg. A service celebrating Jackie’s life will be held on Friday, August 14, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Strasburg funeral home, with Pastor Joe Ehmer officiating. The family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service on Friday.
