Jack L. Maurer, 99, of Dover, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 9, 2025. He is now reunited with the love of his life, Eileen, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage until her passing in 2017. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Jeff.
Born on December 13, 1925, he grew up with five brothers and 2 sisters. In 1942, he proudly joined the US Army and served his country in WWII with honor and courage.
After his service, Jack and Eileen built a life rooted in love and hard work. He retired from Ridge Tool in 1991. He filled his days with Polka music, dancing, bird-watching, wine-making, the outdoors, hunting, and gardening. He was known for his sharp wit, sassy spirit, and tough resilience above all, for the love he gave those around him. He never met a cookie or dessert he didn’t like, and he never failed to bring a smile to the faces of those who knew him.
Along with his granddaughters, Jessica and Mistee, Jack had two caregivers, Sherri Zalesny and AnnMarie Curran, who cared for and loved him deeply, and he adored and loved them in return.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Sherry of Nevada; his grandchildren, Jessica, Mistee, Nicole, and Donald; his great-grandchildren, Sydney (Dom), Jaelee (Sam), Jake, Rich, Albert, Octavia, Zooey, and Gracelyn; his great-grandchildren, Christopher, Luca, and Baby Gio (arriving soon). He is also survived by his sisters, Ida and Barb; his brother, Tom; many nieces and nephews; his daughter-in-law, Julie; and his great-great-granddogs, Rosie, Ziva, Zeke, and Roxy.
Jack will be forever loved, never forgotten, and always in our hearts.
