Harry A. McNutt, Jr., of Strasburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 following an extended illness.
He was born on December 16, 1937 in Greens Run, Athens County, Ohio and was the son of the late Harry A. Sr. and Orpha (Sanborn) McNutt. Harry was also preceded in death by his sisters, Delores Neff, Helen Lang and Linda Barker.
Harry was the owner and president of H.A. McNutt Agency, Inc. where he represented insurance companies in 13 different counties. He and his wife also owned and operated H Bar B Stables raising, buying and selling over 100 head of Missouri Fox Trotting horses. They traveled extensively across the eastern part of the United States camping and trail riding horses with their friends. He was a founding member of the Tri-Co Trail Association, member of the Buckeye Trail Riders, also a lifetime member and inspector of the Missouri Fox Trotter Association. He was also a member of the Tusco Rifle Association and the NRA. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and 4 wheelers.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Lampe) McNutt, whom he married on November 9, 1973; sons, Kenneth (Lela) McNutt of Cadiz, Mark (Anita Flex) McNutt of MIneral City; special nephews, Doug (Rhonda) Otto of Dover and Hal (Ashley Mann) Harmon of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg. There will be no calling hours, with private family services to be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at the Ohio’s Hospice Truman House for making Harry’s final days comfortable.
