George J. Moran, 82, of New Philadelphia passed away at Hennis Care Center in Dover on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 under the care of Community Hospice.
Born on June 15, 1940 in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Minnie (Peacock) Moran. George was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He was a high lift operator and worked for Marsh Lumber Company, and Gutter Helmet. He also worked as a crossing guard for the Dover Police Department for many years.
On April 3, 1958, he married Amelia Ann Emig. Amelia preceded him in death on February 9, 2014, following 55 years of marriage. In addition to his parents and Amelia, he was also preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters; John Moran, Clyde Moran, Jim Moran, Dortha Lang, Laura Redman, Leona Snyder, Genevive Smith, Betty Wilson, Delena Burton, Robert Moran, Charley Moran, and Daniel Moran.
George was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. He enjoyed attending car shows with his 1929 Ford Model A Street Rod. He also enjoyed Nascar, fishing, and baseball.
George will be greatly missed by his children; Pattie (Tom) Stephens of Dover and their daughters; Danielle (Mike) Corrigan and their grandchildren, Carter and Jensen, Denise (Angel) Flores and their child; Alistair; Mookie (Stephen) McFarlane and their son, Henry; Linda Riffle of Baltic and her children; Jason Moran and his son, Jaeden; Bill (Maggi) Moran and their children, Matt and Patrick; Marissa (Zach) Sprowl and their children, Theo, Avery, and Thayer; Andy (Lauren) Moran of Colorado and their daughter, Amalia; his special nephew, Bob (Janet) Moran; fiancé, Shirley Ammons; brother and sister in-law, Jack and Lois Emig; sister in-law, Jean Moran.
Friends are invited to call a the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory of Dover on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. A wake service will be held at 5:45 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 10:30 am with Father Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
