Gay L. Rothacher

Gay L. Rothacher, age 55, of Bolivar, passed away tragically on May 22, 2025, in Jackson Township, Stark County, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She was a beloved member of her community and will be remembered for her warm spirit and generous heart.

Born May 8, 1970, in Dundee, she was the daughter of the late George and Betty (Gerber) Rothacher. Gay graduated from Garaway High School, Sugarcreek, in 1989, and always had a passion for caring for others, which she made her life's work. Throughout her career as a caregiver, she was known for her unwavering dedication and the kindness she extended to everyone around her. Her friends and those she cared for often spoke of her as a good friend with a heart of gold, always there to lend a helping hand.

A vibrant personality, Gay was celebrated for her wonderful smile and contagious laughter. She had an extraordinary ability to brighten the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her -- and she gave the best hugs. Gay created bonds with friends and family that were filled with warmth and love.

In her free time, Gay found joy in antiquing and yard saleing, pursuits that reflected her eye for unique treasures. She relished the moments spent cruising with her brother Tim in his Chevy Nova. She created memories that will last a lifetime in the hearts of those who were touched by her kindness and friendship, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will resonate in the community she cherished so dearly.

She is survived by her brother, Tim Rothacher; her sister, Cathy Swartz; her nieces and nephew, including Randall Grafe, Erika (Mike) Owens and Tina Shull; and great-nieces, Bailee and Emilee; her much-loved dogs, Chewy and Izzy; and her good friend, E.J.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her half-brother, Tom Rothacher; and her great-niece, Katelyn Owens.

Family and friends may pay their respects, visit and share memories on Friday, May 30, 4 - 7 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Gay will be buried later privately, following cremation, in Dover Burial Park.
