Gary M. Hunt, 73, of Dover passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Union Hospital Cleveland Clinic following a period of declining health.
Born on March 25, 1948, in Dennison, he was the son of the late Harry and Joan (Hines) Hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jennifer S. Hunt, and father and mother-in-law, John and Dorothy Edwards.
He graduated from Claymont High School with the class of 1966. In 1969, he received a diploma from United Electronics Institute which led him to a 31-year career at the Timken Company where he worked as an electronics technician. After retiring, he began remodeling houses.
Gary was a jack of all trades. He could fix just about anything and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He also crafted his own fishing poles and lures. Following his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his family cabin at Atwood Lake. He loved being outdoors. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Susan (Edwards) Hunt, whom he married on June 15, 1974; his children; Jessica Hunt (Barry Anslow) of New Philadelphia, Jacqueline Hunt (Greg Laner) of Dover, and Jeremy Hunt (Sabree Mutersbaugh) of Dover; his nine grandchildren, Jaxson, Hunter, and Isabella Anslow, Lillian, Carson, and Kyler Roberson, and Mason, Makenza and Kyson Hunt; his sister, Cathie Fairall; brother and sisters-in-law, Carole Cummings, Nancy Renner, Richard (Sandy) Edwards, Michael (Mary) Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Monday, March 28, 2022, from 5-7 pm. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday beginning at 2 pm with Pastor David St. Aubin officiating. Friends are also invited to call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Dover Burial Park. A meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center following the service of committal.
