Eugene R. Greene, affectionately known as "Greenie", peacefully passed away on December 20, 2023, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born on November 17, 1936, in Sutton, West Virginia he was the son of the late Nellie Wyne.   Eugene lived a remarkable life filled with hard work, dedication, and a love for the great outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Charlie and Ed Greene.

Eugene dedicated five decades of his life as a skilled welder for the Plumbers and Pipefitters #495 in Cambridge. Not only did Eugene contribute to the growth and development of Cambridge through his welding career, but he also spent six years working for Kimble's before retiring. During this time, he further exemplified his strong work ethic.  A man of many skills and talents, Eugene also owned a livestock farm.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Eugene's passion for nature was evident in his love for the great outdoors. He found joy in moments spent fishing and boating.

On December 16, 1988, he married Betty Penrod, who survives.  The pair recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary.  He also leaves behind his children; Coreena (Brad) Rufner of Ragersville, Donald (Greene) of Sherrodsville, Dora (Karl) Whyde of New Philadelphia; his adoptive son, Ed Bleininger; many grandchildren, and his brother, Bill Greene of West Virginia.

In honoring his wishes, cremation has been entrusted with the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory of Dover.  To sign an online guestbook for Greenie, visit the obituary link on the funeral home's website.
