Ethel Mae O’Cull, age 84, of Maysville, Kentucky, went to her heavenly home in the early hours of Monday, August 17, 2026.
Ethel Mae was born on January 28, 1942 to the late Irene (Souder) and Carl Henderson in Maysville, Kentucky. She was born on the family farm and grew up working the land alongside her family. The values instilled in her would stay with her throughout her life. After graduating from high school, she went on to marry Edmond O’Cull, and the two shared many years of marriage before his passing on March 12, 2018. Following his passing, she moved to New Philadelphia, Ohio to be closer to her children.
Ethel Mae will be fondly remembered as a woman that happily lived simply. She had a passion for children, and was a proud self-appointed child advocate. She enjoyed tending her flower garden and working the farm with her husband, and was a dedicated life long member of the Oakwoods Church of Christ in Maysville.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel Mae is preceded in death by her sister, Nina Henderson, and brother, John Henderson.
She leaves behind her children, Catherine Tippey (Roger Lamb) of New Philadelphia, and Andrew (Tammy Newsom) O’Cull of Tusky; grandchildren, Daniel Tippey and Ian O’Cull; and sister, Carol (Gary) Pollitt.
Per Ethel Mae’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. Those wishing to share a memory or condolence may sign an online guestbook by visiting the funeral home’s website.
