Ellen Lou (Green) Edwards, 94, of Amherst, Massachusetts, and a long-time resident of Dover, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015, in Amherst.
Born January 17, 1921, in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Adelbert and Anna (Shildtz) Green. Ellen lived the majority of her life in Dover, moving to Massachusetts in May of this year to be closer to her family, who were first and foremost to her.
Ellen worked for 19 years at Montgomery Ward in Dover, retiring as a department manager in 1976. She was a member of Dover's First Moravian Church, and a former member of both the Tuscarawas County Duplicate Bridge Club and New Philadelphia Lady Elks.
Her favorite pastime was to visit and share good times with her loved ones - she had a community of true and loyal friends throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William Thomas "Tommy" Edwards; her son, Ben Lee Edwards; her brothers, William, John and James Green; and her sisters, Mary Lohrman and Jane Shaw.
Ellen will be deeply missed by her granddaughters, Theresa Edwards, of Belchertown, Massachusetts, and Rebecca (Michael) Sipples of Middletown, Connecticut; her daughter-in-law, Jo Anne Edwards of Johnson, Vermont; her former daughter-in-law, Marie Richard of Manchester, Connecticut; her great-grandchildren, Aaron, Lydia, Mick and Ben; her sister-in-law, Violet Green of Uhrichsville; and her nieces Linda Shaw of Gnadenhutten, Maurya Shaw of New Philadelphia, Susie Reinker of Naples, Florida, and their extended families.
A service celebrating Ellen's life will be held Tuesday, November 10, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover; Rev. John B. Wallace will officiate. Burial will follow in Dover's Maple Grove Cemetery. After the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
