Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Burnham, age 97, of Dover (formerly of Willoughby, OH) passed away October 23, 2024 after a period of declining health at Park Village Health Center.
Born June 1, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio, Liz was the daughter of the late Thomas & Mary Josephine (Power) Mayock. She grew up in a large Irish Catholic family in the midst of the Great Depression. The challenges of the time helped form Liz into a determined and savvy individual. In June of 1945, she graduated from Collinwood High School. Upon graduation she was employed as a secretary by General Electric at their Nela Park campus. During this time she would sometimes model for GE and appeared in several national ad campaigns. It was there she met the man who shared her heart and journey, Stanley Lee Burnham. They were married May 7, 1955 in Phoenix, Arizona and were blessed with 58 years together. Alongside her spouse, she lived a life marked by great diligence, building a legacy of loyalty and generosity that touched her children and grandchildren. Her advice, sometimes shared unprompted, was a testament to her deep care and desire to see those she loved thrive.
Liz is survived by her three sons Jack (Judy) of Dover, OH, Jeff (Karen) of Lincolnshire, IL, and Ted (Luann) of North Ridgeville, OH, as well as thirteen grandchildren, Leigh Burnham, Kelsey Burnham, Grace (Chris) Bellon , Mary (Jan-Michael) LaBrake , Benjamin (Taylor) Burnham , Therese Burnham, Maximilian Burnham, Kylie Burnham (Avery Galis), Jessica Burnham, Patrick (Cate) Burnham, Christopher Burnham, Andrew Burnham, and Sean Burnham (Sophia DelCiappo); and six great-grandchildren, Brandon Shields II, Imogene and Anne Bellon, Desmond and Eowyn LaBrake, and Kolbe Burnham, all of whom made her eyes light up with love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her seven siblings, Margaret Mayock, John Mayock, Thomas Mayock , Francis Mayock, Richard Mayock, Robert Mayock, and William Mayock, as well as her parents.
