Edward R. Wilson

January 6, 1942 — December 11, 2022

Edward R. Wilson, 80, of Dover passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2022.

Born on January 6, 1942, in Lakeview, Oregon, he was the son of the late Harold and Wanda Wilson, also of Lakeview, Oregon.

While Ed was in the United States Army from 1962-1964, stationed in Virginia, he met his wife, Nancy (Tyree) at a local drive-in restaurant and they married on October 10, 1964. They moved to Nancy’s hometown of Dover, Ohio. He was a Dover policeman before starting his own semi-truck business and repair shop, and he worked at Cummins Diesel before he retired. After retiring, he worked part-time mowing for Tuscarawas County and delivery for Precision Pneumatics.

All of his spare time was devoted to his family- enjoying kids, grandkids, and extended family–playing cards and much laughter. He had a solid faith in God and was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Dover.

Ed was preceded in death by his sisters; Geraldine and Yvonne; his brother, Dwayne; his beloved in-laws, Cutis and Katie Tyree; and his loyal dog, Peaches.

Ed was a loving and devoted husband and will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Nancy. He was an incredibly fun and supportive father to Kathleen Gwynne (Steve Strohl) and Adam Wilson (Deb). He was so happy to be a grandpa to Connor Gwynne, Tyree and Bailey Wilson, Lauren Strohl (Joe Ramunni), Kyle Strohl, and great-grandpa to Lily and Leo Ramunni; and a doggie Dad to his girl Phoebe.

He is also survived by quite a bit of extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews, whom he loved dearly along with his younger brother, Larry (Lynn) Wilson; and his sisters; Josie Wilson and Tammy Strohkirch, of Lakeview, Oregon.

A celebration of life event will take place in the summer with a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663, St. Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the Ronald McDonald House, 26345 Network Place Chicago, IL 60673.
