Edward Joseph “Ed” Hagarman, 98, of Dover, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover. Born on July 24, 1927, he was the son of the late Roy Aloyse and Emma (Rieger) Hagarman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Ed was a proud graduate of St. John’s High School in Canton, Class of 1944. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country, honorably serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. On November 29, 1952, Ed married the love of his life, Joan M. Carrier. Joan preceded him in death on June 13, 2012.
For 36 years, Ed worked at Superior Dairy, where he was known for his strong work ethic. Outside of work, he dedicated himself to his community and his church. A longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, Ed was active with the Knights of Columbus, proudly serving as a 4th Degree Knight. He also served as the past president of the Dover Rotary and was a member of the 40 and 8 Club in Dover. Ed found joy in golfing and bowling and created countless treasured memories boating with his family at Atwood Lake.
He leaves behind his children; Michele (Larry) Lucas of Medina, Susan Valsco of New Market, Maryland, and Steve (Kathy) Hagarman of Dover, his grandchildren, Kelly Lucas (Karl), Kirk Lucas, Kristy (Garth) Grimes, Erin (Lester) Byers, Theresa (Jason) Rolf, Edward Hagarman, Nicolas (Kaci) Valsco; great grandchildren, Giada, Paisley, Gavin, Harlow, Ruby, Ellie, Josephine, Leyna, William, Delaney, Liam, and Charlotte; his sister, Elizabeth Day; and his brother, Carl Hagarman.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 5:45. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jimmy Hatfield officiating.
