Edith L. Leggett, age 96, of New Philadelphia, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, in Danbury of Millersburg.

 

Born September 7, 1927, in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Lorena Friel Shinaberry. Edith graduated from Uhrichsville High School and married Robert J. Parrish. The couple had four children; Robert passed away on December 7, 1970 at the age of 46. Edith was employed by Alsco Anaconda in Gnadenhutten. On April 21, 1980, she married Walter E. Leggett of New Philadelphia, who survives.

 

Edith was a member of Roxford Church in Dennison and the Tuscarawas County Senior Center in Dover. She very much enjoyed being with her family, as well as playing cards.

 

In addition to her husband, Walter, she is survived by her children, Thomas (Karen) Parrish of Marion and Sheila (Wayne) Thomas of Piqua; her daughters-in-law, Pat Parrish of Westerville and Sharon Parrish of Port Washington; her step-children, Keith (Lana) Leggett of Ashburn, Virginia, and Marta (Tom) Harr of New Philadelphia; her eight grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; her ten great-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Ardith Taylor of New Philadelphia, and Phyllis (Ron) Bower of Dennison; and her many nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, and her first husband, Robert, Edith was preceded in death by her sons, Ronald and Philip Parrish, and seven sisters and one brother.

 

Private services will be held. Burial will be in Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery.
