Deloris "Fay" Tressell, 79, of Wilmot, was gently taken by the hand of Jesus to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Hennis Care Centre in Dover.
Born on October 18, 1946, in Fayetteville, West Virginia, Fay was the daughter of the late Clarence and Naomi Byard Gill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leo Tressell, on April 15, 2022; beloved son, Tony Damron, her niece, Rev. Jennifer Gill, and her dear aunt Dolly Gump.
She was a 1964 graduate of Fairless High School and earned her associate’s degree from Stark State College. For many years she worked as the manager of the shoe department at K-Mart in Cambridge. Fay was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Those who knew Fay will remember her deep love for family. She never missed a family gathering, no matter the distance, and cherished trips to the family cabin in West Virginia. She proudly followed her grandchildren to every school event and dance recital. Fay loved Elvis, her cats, quilting, playing rummy and dominos, being outdoors, and cooking—especially her famous fudge and potato soup. For more than 60 years, she stayed close with her high school classmates, gathering monthly to enjoy one another’s company.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Angel Herbert of Dover; her beloved and only brother, Roger (Carolyn) Gill of Beach City; her dearest grandchildren, Lacey (Josh) Stephen, Brooke Herbert, and Jake Herbert; her cherished great-grandchildren, Jett and Cash; and her best friend from school, Nancy Palmer.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover, with Pastor Mike Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following the funeral, a luncheon will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and therapy staff at Hennis Care Centre for their dedicated and compassionate care given to Fay over the years. May her memory bring comfort and smiles to all who loved her.
