Dean Coventry, 92, of Dover passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
He was born on July 20, 1930 in Dennison and was a son of the late Orville and Edith Marten Coventry. Dean was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter, four brothers and four sisters.
Dean proudly served his country with the United States Army. Following his discharge, he was employed at Union Camp and retired in 1992 after many years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. While in high school, Dean was a standout football player for the Uhrichsville Tigers, having played from 1946 to 1949. During his career he was awarded All Ohio Honorable Mention in 1949, All Ohio in 1948, International News Service Honorable Mention All Ohio, United Press All Ohio Honorable Mention, United Press 2nd Team All Ohio 1948 and All ECOL Grid Team.
Dean is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ruth Rine Coventry; children, Steve (Carol) Coventry of Dover, Michael (Mary) Coventry of Kentucky, Audie Coventry of Dover, Marci (Don) Vickers of Tuscarawas; brothers, Jim Coventry, Denny (Phyllis) Coventry both of Uhrichsville; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
