Dawn M. Smitley

Dawn “Shelly” M. Smitley, 77, of Walnut Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home.

Dawn was born in Canton on August 30, 1949, to the late Geraldine (Napier) and Dale Smitley. In her youth, she was passionate about showing her horses. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover and the Ruth Circle, alongside her mother.

Friends wish to express their gratitude to the staff of Walnut Hills Nursing Home for the wonderful care provided to Dawn over the years.

Dawn leaves behind her close friends, Abe and Susie Miller and Lynda Stoyer. They find comfort in knowing she is with her parents again.

Per Dawn’s wishes, her care has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory in Strasburg. Graveside services officiated by Abe Miller will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 1:30 pm in Dover Burial Park, located at 5651 North Wooster Avenue Extension NW, Dover, Ohio 44622.
