David N. Trustdorf

David N. Trustdorf, age 79, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, following a brief illness.

David was born on February 20, 1947, in Dover, to the late Mary (Austrich) and Robert Trustdorf. After graduating from Dover High School in 1965, David joined the Navy and honorably served his country in Germany. He retired in 2023 from Swiss Valley Oil in Sugarcreek after many years of dedicated service.

David was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover, an active member of the New Philadelphia Elks and former Dover Elks Clubs, and a member of the Eagles Club. He was very artistic, and had a love of painting, tattoos, and photography, and owned his own photography business. He was a huge fan of the Dover Tornadoes, and loved everything about his hometown. David was very social, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brothers, Steven and Richard Trustdorf; and brother-in-law, Dwight Smith.

He is survived by his brother, Allan (Cathy) Trustdorf of Tennessee; sister, Gail Smith of Maryland; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Wellman (Matt Dummermuth), Staci (Todd) Abel, Richard (Katelyn) Trustdorf, and Mia Trustdorf (Corin Usinski); great nephews, Alex (Chloe) Bowman, Steven Wellman (Payton Zumbar), and Zane Conner (Ava Herzig); and great-great nephews, Mavrick and J.D. Bowman.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia for the excellent care and comfort they provided David in his final days, and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory.
