David E. “Dave” Walton, 75, of Dover died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 at the New Dawn Retirement Community following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 1, 1945 in Dover, the son of the late Lloyd and Mary Walton. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Mary Jane (Herman) Walton who died Sept. 1, 2019.
Following retirement from the former Alsco Anaconda in Gnadenhutten, Dave worked for Giant Eagle in Dover for several years.
He was a 1964 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the New Philadelphia Elks lodge and enjoyed bowling. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan as well as the Buckeyes.
He will be sadly missed by his son, David of Dover; two sisters, Carolyn McCammon of Westerville and Cheryl (Ron) Baker of Gahanna; a brother, Dan (Linda) Walton of New Philadelphia; his canine companion, Pronk and his grand dog Hank along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor David Wing officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum at Dover Burial Park where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
