Dale V. Vogel, 85, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Born on July 29, 1940 in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Ray and Bernice Merryman Vogel. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harley and John Vogel, and an infant sister.
He grew up in the Crooked Run area near the family farm. Dale attended York Elementary and graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1958. He worked at Marlite and the W.W. Henry Company before retiring from the YMCA.
Dale was a longtime member of the Crooked Run Church and Salem Evans Creek Lutheran Church. He especially treasured time spent at the family property in Stone Creek, where he shared countless outdoor activities with his three sons and their growing families. Never one to sit still, Dale kept busy well into his later years—most notably by mowing lawns for many of his “older” neighbors, a good number of whom were actually younger than he was. He was also a member of the OGCA.
Dale is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lynn Vernizzi Vogel, whom he married on August 30, 1963; his sons, Tim (fiancée Christina Ruble) Vogel of Stone Creek, Sam (Wendy L.) Vogel of Bakersville, and Keith (Wendy R.) Vogel of Stone Creek; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted to Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover. A celebration of Dale’s life will be held at a later date.
