In Loving Memory of
Constance Lynn “Connie” Karlowicz
June 22, 1949 – July 12, 2026
Some people leave behind accomplishments. Others leave behind love. Connie Karlowicz left both.
Constance Lynn “Connie” Karlowicz passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 77 years old. While her family grieves her loss, they are profoundly grateful for the love, kindness, and countless lives she touched throughout her life.
Born on June 22, 1949, Connie believed that a life well lived was measured not by what you accumulated, but by what you gave to others. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel valued, cared for, and heard.
Her career reflected her servant’s heart. Connie began as a high school math teacher, encouraging young people to believe in themselves. She later worked at Gradall in New Philadelphia, Ohio, where she was respected for her dedication, humility, and strong work ethic. She also volunteered with Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio, including serving on its Board of Trustees and working in the gift shop, bringing comfort and kindness to patients and their families.
Connie also devoted many years to supporting the American Dental Association and the Ohio Dental Association. She never sought recognition for the work she did; she simply believed in helping others and doing meaningful work well.
When she wasn’t caring for others, Connie found joy in creating. She loved stitching, knitting, and quilting, turning simple pieces of fabric and thread into beautiful expressions of love. Her handmade quilts, blankets, and treasures will continue to warm the hearts and homes of those she loved for generations.
Above all else, Connie’s greatest pride and deepest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and faithful friend. Her love was quiet but constant, shown through countless acts of kindness, thoughtful gestures, and unwavering support. She celebrated life’s joys with genuine happiness and faced its hardships with grace and remarkable strength.
Connie is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. James Karlowicz; her son, Jason Karlowicz, and his wife, Marcie; her grandchildren, Will Karlowicz, Alyssa Herzig, Ava Herzig, and Alyvia Herzig; and her brothers, Ken Deceuster (Maureen) and Joel Deceuster (Madeline). She also leaves behind extended family and treasured friends whose lives were made brighter by her compassion and gentle spirit.
Though cancer claimed her life, it never defined it. Connie will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the students she inspired, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless acts of kindness she performed without expecting anything in return.
Her love remains woven into the lives of all who knew her, much like the beautiful quilts she created, stitched together with patience, care, and enduring love. Her family finds comfort in knowing that her kindness will continue to ripple through the lives of others, and that her memory will forever be a blessing.
“Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day—unseen, unheard, but always
