Clara N. Hutras

October 5, 1929 — March 12, 2023

Clara Nick Hutras, 93, of Dover passed away peacefully at her son’s home, surrounded by her loving family. She spent the last four years residing with her sons in Hilliard, Ohio, actively being a part of their families.

She was born on October 5, 1929 in Akron and was a daughter of proud Greek American Icarian immigrants, the late Nick and Athena Kontouni Kayafas. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Louis Hutras on May 9, 1992; sisters, Dorothy Charnas, Bessie Space, Dolly Linaman; brothers in law, Steve, Charnas, George Space, Ron Linaman, Harry, Alex, Bill and Tom Hutras, and Jim Judy; sisters in law, Barb Hutras, Mary Jane Judy and Opal Chadreu.

Clara was a graduate of Shaw High School where she was a majorette, after transferring to Shaw during her senior year. She was a devout member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon and the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus. Clara was a loving and kind soul with a great sense of humor that was hard to miss when she gathered with her three sisters on numerous family occasions, their collective laughter was infectious. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them and others, and she also mentored her two daughters in law so her special family recipes passed down from her mother would be passed on to her three grandchildren and eight grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, Aristotle “Aris” (Beth) Hutras, Nick (Cindy) Hutas both of Columbus; grandchildren, Talia (Jeremy) Campbell, Aristotle “Telly” (Jenni) Hutras, Alexa (Doug) Provost; great grandchildren, Clara, Elias, James, Eleni, Aristotle “Ari”, Augustus “Gus”, Eliana and Demi. Along with her best friend of 88 years, Mary Smith, they all made her 93 years well worth the journey. Clara gave a lot of love and received as much in return. She was at peace and looking forward to reuniting with her husband, Lou. Clara was a wonderful daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, sister in law, daughter in law, grandmother, great grandmother and friend….she will be missed.
