Cheri Lynn Clay, 41, of Dover passed away from a sudden illness on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Cleveland Clinic.

Born on May 18, 1979, in Dover, she was the daughter of Larry and Gay Lynne (Festi) Clay.

She graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1997. While in school she worked for McDonalds. She later started as a cashier at Speedway and worked her way up to the district manager of several stores. She was a talented baker, owning Sweet Ingenuity, where she made specialty cakes and cookies. She was known for chocolate covered strawberries. Cheri was extremely artistic and enjoyed crafting.

In addition to her parents, she leaves behind her beloved daughters; Kelsi Madison Clay and Harmoni Rose Longwell both of the home; her brother, Seth (Melinda) Clay of Dover; niece and nephew, Hailey and Thomas Clay of Dover; her paternal grandmother, Ruth Clay of Dover; her aunts and uncles, Larry and Chris Kuemerle, Tod and Dawn Festi, Chad and Amy Festi, Bruce and Jane Clay, Russ Clay and Tammy Kloha; her significant other, Michael Longwell of Massillon and his children, Logan and Conner; along with several cousins and very close friends.

Cheri was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather; Thomas E. Clay and maternal grandparents, Lewis “Lou” and Sue Festi; along with her aunt and uncle, Keith and Rhonda Mann.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Monday, December 7, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks will be required and social distancing will take place. We ask that guests greet the family and do not linger at the funeral home to make it a safe environment for all guests.

In lieu of flowers, there will be a fund set up to help support her girls. When it is finalized, it will be posted on the funeral home’s website.
