Charles P. "Charlie" Petrullo

Charles P. “Charlie” Petrullo, 85, of Dover, Ohio died Friday, April 15, 2022 at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Lakeland Ranch, Florida. They resided in Bradenton, Florida the past several winters.

Charlie spent 25 years in the food service industry where he worked for the former Kroger Foods in both Dover and New Philadelphia.

Born January 18, 1937 in Dover, he was the son of the late Mauro “Mike” and Helen (Curcio) Petrullo. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his daughter, Teri Natoli; a brother, Tony and his sisters, Maria Cowan, Carmi Stauffer and Judy Neading.

He was a life member of the New Philadelphia Elks lodge #510. He was a 1955 graduate of Dover High School. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart Alice Schupbach and they were joined in marriage on June 25, 1955. They were blessed with four wonderful children. Charlie loved his family more than anything and was the happiest when the entire family came for his pasta dinners that included his infamous cinnamon rolls. In his earlier years, Charlie loved to camp, boat, and water ski with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards. He claimed to have had two left feet but learned to be an excellent country dancer. He was a master gardener that included canning the fruits of his labor. He considered himself fortunate to have lived his dream and spent the past 19 years wintering in Florida where he made many lasting friendships.

Charlie will be missed by his family that includes his wife, Alice; three sons, Perry (Lolly) Petrullo, Cary Petrullo and Gary (Robin) Petrullo; son in law, Dana Natoli; six grandchildren, Scott (Danielle) and daughter Maria; Abby (Amy Temple), Nick Natoli, Randy and daughter Zoey and Ciana and Gannon Petrullo; three sisters, Lena Grandison, Lucy Wheeler, and Betsy (Bill) Walters; sisters in law, Jean Petrullo and Sue (Larry) Miller; brothers in law, Lee Neading and Harry Schupbach along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many life long friends.

Catholic Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 beginning at 11:30am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Fr. Jeff Coning officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery in Dover. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7pm with Elks services at 6:45pm.
