Charles E. Hazel

Charles E. ''Chuck'' Hazel, 61, of Dover went home to be with his Savior Jesus on May 11 in the year of our Lord 2000. He passed away in his home after a courageous battle against cancer.

He was a Business Development Manager with the Connection Co. in Akron.

Born October 1, 1938 in Massillon he was a son of Maxine R. Grey Hazel of Dover and the late Charles F. Hazel.

He was an active member of Dover Alliance Church where he had served as President of Alliance Men for five years and head usher for twelve years.

He was Co-Founder, President and Board Member of the Orville Boys Club where his son Paul became the first member. He was also President of the Dover Kiwanis Club, Orville Band Boosters and Orville Jaycees. He had held offices with the Dover and Akron/Canton Traffic Club.

In addition to his mother, Chuck is survived by his wife Bobbie White Hazel with whom he would have celebrated 21 years of marriage on August 11, 2000.

He is also survived by two daughters: Nada and Bill Cosgriff of Wadsworth

Scott Beitzel of Dover
Sid and Susan Beitzel of Toccoa, Georgia

Two grandsons: Drew and Cole Beitzel of Toccoa, Georgia

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Nada Hazel

Father and mother-in-law: Rev and Mrs L.S. White

Brother-in-law: Charlie White

He was an avid Indians fan who enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with family and his close friends Lynn (Ludy) Fry, Ray and Betty White, Charles and Vera Males, Steve and Phyllis Collins, Karen White and Charles and Pam Tartaglione all of Oklahoma; Ken and Betty Barnard of Raleigh, North Carolina, Bill and Ann Neuschafer of Kansas, Joe and Laurel Hoobler of Florida, Earl and Sharon Hazel and Ron Martin of Ohio, Floyd and Retha Baker, Hobert and Judy White, Fred and Ann White and Dan and Sandy Buss all of Dover.

Chuck was a wonderful Christian who loved his family and inspired everyone whose lives he touched.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2000 at 11:00 am in the Dover Alliance Church with Pastor Richard Rose officiating. Interment will be at the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
