Carol J. Haswell

Carol J. Haswell, 64, of Strasburg, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital following a courageous 37-year battle with multiple sclerosis.

Born November 13, 1961, in East Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lottie (Delsky) Formick. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Linda Manning, Ronald Formick, and Carl Formick.

Carol graduated from Streetsboro High School in 1980. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in 1984 and a master’s degree in 1985, both from Kent State University. She devoted her professional life to helping others, working in numerous mental health and rehabilitation facilities throughout Ohio, including as a mental health counselor for Crawford County. A member of Strasburg United Methodist Church, Carol found joy in watching the Cleveland Guardians, traveling (she visited 40 states), and especially in supporting her children through their school and sporting activities. She loved her family deeply.

Carol is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Timothy Haswell, whom she married on October 25, 1986; her sons, Steven (Rachel) Haswell of Norton and Christian Haswell of New Philadelphia; and her grandchildren, Hayden, Gavin, and Marshall Haswell.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg with Rev. Matthew Wald officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. The family will be greeting friends at the Strasburg funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
