Bruce A. Owens, age 60, a life-long resident of Dover, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 26, 2022, in his home.
Born May 31, 1961, in Union Hospital, he was a son of the late Harry D. and Norma Jean Schwab Owens. Bruce attended Dover High School and, what was then, Buckeye Joint Vocational School, graduating in 1979. He married the former Diana M. Raber, who survives, on July 27, 1985. Bruce was a highly-skilled welder who took great pride in his work; he owned and operated B and J Sales and Service in Dover.
Bruce was always helpful, friendly and kind. He was a loving family man, who especially enjoyed get-togethers. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, pontooning at Clendening and Leesville Lakes, gardening, and barbecuing - chicken was his specialty.
In addition to his wife, Diana, Bruce is survived by his son, Joe Owens of Dundee; his sister, Janet Galigher of New Philadelphia; his sister-in-law, Chris Owens of Dover; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kitty and Jonas Raber of Dundee; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and David Widder of New Philadelphia; his nieces and nephews, Mike (Erika) and Jason Owens, Kevin (Macie) and Aaron (Summer) Galigher, Jacklyn and Brooke Widder, Holly (Adriel) Rivera and Kristopher Hendershot; his great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved chihuahuas, Archie B. and Gracie.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Owens; his brother-in-law, Jim Galigher; and his sister-in-law, Kathy Hendershot.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Wednesday, March 2, 5 - 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, March 3, at 11 a.m.; Pastor Dan Legg will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
