Bonnie L. Domer Wilson, 76, of Newark passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Inn at SharonBrooke in Newark following an extended illness. Born on January 9, 1948 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Florence Shutt Domer. Bonnie was also preceded in death by her infant sister, Linda K. Domer and her brother, Robert (Dalene) Domer.
She was a 1966 graduate of Dover High School and received her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Akron. Bonnie dedicated an impressive 43 years of her life to serving others as an RN at the Ohio State University Medical Center before retiring in 2011. Proudly carrying the title of nurse, she found deep satisfaction in helping others and left a positive impact on countless lives.
Bonnie was a warm-hearted individual with an infectious smile that radiated warmth and sincerity. She possessed an incredible ability to make anyone feel comfortable in her presence. Her biggest and best hugs were legendary and invoked a sense of comfort and love in all who received them. Bonnie's love for animals was evident in the deep bond she shared with her dogs. Naming them all with names starting with 'B' like her own name, Bonnie, she ensured that they were not just pets, but beloved companions throughout her life. Baxter, Buttons, Baby, Bear, Bernie, and Brady held a special place in Bonnie's heart.
In addition to her passion for nursing and love for animals, Bonnie had a few other interests that brought happiness into her life. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and treasured every moment she had with them. Boating and water skiing were also activities that gave Bonnie great pleasure.
Alzheimer's disease may have taken its toll on Bonnie's memory over the course of 12 years, but it failed to diminish her spirit. Not once did she complain or ask "why me." Instead, she faced the challenges with admirable strength and grace.
Bonnie will forever be remembered by her surviving family members and friends who were fortunate enough to share their lives with her. She leaves behind two loving daughters: Andrea (Dave) Walton of Worthington and April (Dave) Ricciardo of Newark. Additionally, Bonnie's grandchildren, Tyler Flewelling, Casey, and Gabriella Ricciardo, will cherish the memories they created with their doting grandmother.
While her physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her legacy of compassion, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire all those who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. David Wing officiating.
