It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Betty L. Zimmerman (Grandma Froggy), who lived from June 10, 1958, to April 24, 2026. Born in Dover, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Rebecca (Yoder) Raber.
Betty is survived by the love of her life, Richard Zimmerman, with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this October. She is also survived by her daughters, January (Eric) Tango and Anjelica Zimmerman (Amanda McGough); her five grandchildren, Vann, True, Dax, Elle, and Amanda (Collin) Yoder; her great-grandchildren, Lilly and Penelope; her sister, Mary Jo VanEpps; her brother, Paul Raber; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Dr. Kenneth VanEpps.
Betty was known for her vibrant personality and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, growing a small business in Sugarcreek into one of Ohio's largest tourist attractions. She had a profound love for nature, enjoying everything from mushroom hunting and fishing to wood carving and maintaining extraordinary flower gardens. An avid sports fan, Betty played in women’s softball leagues and coached, but her greatest joy was cheering on her grandchildren. She rarely missed a game, where she was affectionately known for her boisterous “WooWoo.”
Her family believes her life was best embodied by 1 Corinthians 13:7: “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
