Betty J. Povick, 74, of Canton Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in the Green Meadows Skilled Nursing Care Center in Louisville after a long battle of health issues.

Betty was born May 4, 1951, in Dennison, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Michael Povick and Opal (Gnagy) Parrish. She is preceded in death by her sister, Janet Porco, niece Angie Owens, niece Julia Porco, companion, Floyd Dansby, long-time special friend, Robert Avery, and dear friend Robin Brokaw.

Betty Graduated from Claymont High School in 1969. She attended Kent State University in 1970 and later transferred to The University of Akron. Betty worked for many years at Hellers Factory in Newcomerstown, Ohio, but found her calling at the Cambridge State Hospital/Developmental Center. She devoted over 20+ plus years of service to the state of Ohio and later retired. Betty possessed a vibrant personality that shone particularly bright during the holidays and special occasions. She cherished these times, often taking the lead in hosting get-togethers that became a tradition for her family. Betty had an extreme amount of love for her classmates and enjoyed speaking at their class of 69 reunions over the years. Her hometown friendships meant a lot to her. She enjoyed helping others, baking, making crafts, and shopping at Walmart for hours. Betty had a love for singing and blessed many people over the years with her voice and love of Marvin Gaye. She also loved playing BINGO and shopping online yard sale sites.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Farah Povick of Las Vegas, Adrienne Dansby of Canton; bonus children, Vonda Dansby of Canton, Todd Dansby of Dover, Shayla Woverton of Cambridge, Dwayne Dansby and Kelli Dansby both of Newcomerstown; grandchildren, Azia Easton, Skye Easton, Dayton Millender, and Tayzhon Mason; nephews Ernie Porco, Michael Porco, nieces Tina Amstutz, Elisa Wagner, and a host of bonus children, grand children, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and close friend Sue Gage. Betty "Bops" touched so many and will be deeply missed by many.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12th starting at 12:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm.
