Betty J. Schenk

Betty J. Schenk, 84, of Dover died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at Union Hospital following a sudden illness.

Betty and her late husband John, who died on August 21, 1995, owned and operated Schenk�(TM)s Grill in Shanesville and Schenk�(TM)s Grocery Store in Columbia.

Born August 3, 1918 in Strasburg she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Tusky Aul McGonigal.

She was a member of St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ in Dover, Women�(TM)s Fellowship and the Women�(TM)s Literary Club. She was also a Pink Lady at Union Hospital and delivered Mobile Meals for many years.

She is survived by a daughter: Sally (Steve) Doege of Canton

Son: Robert (Janet) Schenk of Dover

Three grandchildren: Lori (Jay) Stapp
Melanie (Matt) Neidenthal
Marcus Malcuit

Six great grandchildren

Sister: Doris Ragland of Sun City Center, Florida

She was also preceded in death by her brother: John McGonigal

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2003 at 1:00 pm in the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Thursday (tonight) from 6-8 pm.
