Betty L. Grewell

Betty L. Grewell, age 98, of Dover, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Park Village Nursing Facility in New Philadelphia.

Born on September 13, 1928, in Sandyville, Betty was the daughter of the late Stewart and Catherine (Bell) Hennis. On December 23, 1949, Betty married Charles Grewell, and the two shared over 58 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on April 27, 2008. The two were long time members of the Dover Moose Club and Dover VFW Auxiliary.

Betty worked at the Dover Dollar General, and spent 18 years working for Breitenbach Winery.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was also preceded in death by her son, Roger Grewell; son-in-law, William Buckohr; brother, John Hennis; and sisters, Esther McDade and Donna Andrews.

Betty will be greatly missed by her sons, Robert (Linda) Grewell and Mark (Syl) Grewell; her daughter, Valerie Buckohr; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Park Village Southside for the wonderful care provided to Betty. The family asks that those wishing may make a donation to the Dover Moose Lodge in Betty’s honor.

Per Betty’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory in Dover. A graveside service will be held at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover, and this page will be updated when services have been finalized.
