Barbara Jean Blickensderfer Walters, 80, of Dover, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Park Village in Dover.
Born on October 26, 1945, Barbara was the daughter of the late Charles Raymond and Dorothy Jean (Price) Blickensderfer.
Barbara was raised in Uhrichsville, Ohio, and was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School. She continued her education at Columbus Business University and lived in Columbus for the next 8 years. Barb moved to Carrollton, Ohio in the summer of 1971, with her then spouse John Walters. This is where they started a veterinarian practice, traveled extensively together, and where she resided for the next thirty years.
Barbara devoted much of her professional career to the banking industry. She worked for twelve years at Key Bank in Canton as a loan application specialist and credit collector, where she was known for her dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
A woman of faith, Barbara was a member of First Christian Church in New Philadelphia. She cherished her family above all else and found great joy in spending time with her children. She made her home a warm and welcoming environment and treated her children’s friends with kindness and generosity. Barb was able to positively impact young lives and helped to create lifelong friendships.
Barbara loved spending time tending to her plants and flowers. She enjoyed shopping from QVC and watching Jeopardy. She also had a deep love for books and was an avid reader throughout her life. Whether she was enjoying a favorite novel or discovering a new author, reading brought her great joy and enrichment.
Her children survive her, Sharon (Tavis) Walker, Wayne (Jennifer) Walters, and Sonia (Douglas) Barcus; her beloved grandchildren, Emily, Noah, and Timothy Walker, Kendall and Cole Barcus, Genevieve and Abbigail Walters; her sister, Nanci (Robert) Blickensderfer Dickens; her step brothers Bill (Audrey) Blickensderfer, and David (Mary Jo) Blickensderfer; her many beloved nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her stepsister Alice Kay (William) McDowell and her step brothers Robert (Marilyn) Blickensderfer and Jim (Zetta) Blickensderfer.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Monday June 22nd from 12:00pm -1:00pm. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held immediately following at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday June 22nd at 1:00pm with Dick Walters officiating.
