Arlene Ryan Caswell

June 17, 1933 — October 9, 2023

Massillon

Arlene Ryan Caswell, 90, a devoted homemaker who found joy in nurturing her family, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. She embraced the roles of wife, mother, and grandmother with unwavering love and dedication. Arlene's passing on Monday, October 9, 2023 at The Laurels of Massillon has left a profound void in the lives of all who cherished her.

Born on June 17, 1933, in Akron, Arlene was raised in a home filled with warmth and compassion by her parents, the late Martin and Loretta Zembower Ryan. Throughout her life, Arlene embodied the virtues instilled in her by her loving parents. Her caring nature shone through in every aspect of her existence.

Arlene always found solace in her faith and was an esteemed member of the Oak Hill Presbyterian Church in Akron. Arlene's spiritual devotion provided her with a deep sense of fulfillment and guided her through life's challenges.

During her children’s formative years at Dover High School, Arlene not only supported them academically but also played an instrumental role as the president of the Dover High School Mothers Club. One quality that set Arlene apart was her remarkable talent for crocheting. With nimble fingers and a creative mind, she transformed balls of yarn into works of art. Her handcrafted creations were often given as gifts to family members and close friends who treasure these tangible reminders of Arlene's boundless love.

Arlene exemplified what it means to be a devoted wife to Ronald Caswell until his passing on May 21, 2011. Through all of life's ups and downs, Arlene and Ronald embraced one another with steadfast affection. Their enduring love serves as an inspiration to all who witnessed the depth of their connection.

Arlene's devotion for her family was unmatched, and her memory will forever reside in the hearts of her daughters: Ronda (Richard) Cannon of Akron and Rene Nichols of Florida. Arlene's legacy extends to the next generation through her cherished grandchildren: Carrie (Amin) Bilal, Steven (Candis) Nichols, Matthew Cannon, as well as her nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Arlene was also preceded in death by her son, Mark Caswell and great-grandchild Phoenix Cannon.
