Ardith M. Taylor

Ardith M. Taylor, age 94, of New Philadelphia, went home to the Lord on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Ardith was born on August 10, 1932, in Urichsville to the late Lorena (Friel) and Jacob Shinabery. On March 31, 1951, she married the late Louis “Sam” Taylor, and the couple celebrated 61 years of marriage before his passing on December 10, 2012.

Ardith spent 32 years as a self-employed beautician, and ran a shop in her Port Washington home. She then spent eight years working the deli counter at the New Philadelphia Buehlers. She was a member of the Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene, a devoted follower of Jesus, and enjoyed reading her Bible each day. Ardith had a natural green thumb, and loved tending to her flowers. Birds held a special place in her heart, and she always had a loaf of bread reserved just for feeding the birds.

She is survived by her children, Lawrence Taylor, and Carla (Mike) O’Dell; grandchildren, Jarrod Stephen, Stephanie Stephen, Kari Grubb, and Lance Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Haley Mizer, Jackson and Camden Grubb, and Makenna Taylor.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by nine of her siblings.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the hospice care workers who compassionately cared for Ardith in her final weeks.

Friends may call on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Toland Herzig Funeral Home in Dover. A service celebrating Ardith’s life will begin at 11 officiated by Pastor Wayne Baker.
