Anne Lusic

December 10, 1929 — November 17, 2023

Dover

Anne Lusic, age 93, of Dover, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, in Dover’s Park Village Health Care Center.

Born December 10, 1929, in South Chicago, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Jergovich Cutich. Anne moved with her family at a young age to Beaver County, Pennsylvania, where Anne graduated from Monaca High School in 1948. She married George M. Lusic on April 28, 1956; the couple had five children and took up residence in Tuscarawas County. Besides being a loving wife and mother, Anne was employed by the Greer Steel Company in Dover for 25 years, retiring in 1995 as credit manager in the accounting department.

She was a devoted member of Dover’s St. Joseph Church, which included the St. Joseph Seniors, Regina Study Club and the Secular Franciscan Order. Additionally, Anne belonged to the Fortnightly Music Club and T4C - where she was particularly active in the organization’s Share-A-Christmas  program.

Above all, Anne was the matriarch of a large, loving family. She took great pleasure in hosting family gatherings for the holidays and other family get-togethers well into her later years. Her home was always filled with great love and joy for her ever-expanding family.

Every year, Anne tended to a large vegetable and flower garden that gave her much delight. Her giant rhubarb plant was admired by all, begetting many a rhubarb pie or cobbler.

Her twilight years were spent sitting on her back patio watching the birds and admiring her beautiful flowers. A well-deserved peaceful finale to a long, well-lived life.

She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Luanne Lusic  of Dover and Mary (Kevin) Neidig of Mineral City; her sons, Steven Lusic, George Lusic Jr. and William (Valerie) Lusic, all of Dover; her grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Eberly, Rachel (Andy) Gibson, Elizabeth (Anthony) Backowski, Megan (Ryan) Hutton, Jacob (Lisa) Lusic, Bianca Herman, Ian and Shaun Arter, Brittney (Dan) Jergovich, Jordan and Briana Neidig; her 11 great-grandchildren; her brother, Nick Cutich of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania; and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, on May 6, 1999; her grandson, George M. Lusic III; her sisters, Mary Jane and Catherine Cutich, and Mary Margaret Kieltyka; and her brother, John Cutich Jr.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, November 24, 5 - 7 p.m., with Christian Wake service being held at 6:45 p.m. Fr. Jimmy Hatfield will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 25, at 1 p.m., in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a lunch in the church’s Family Life Center.

Anne’s family requests that contributions in her memory be made to T-4-C/Share-A-Christmas or Birthright of New Philadelphia to support families and especially women in need so that they too may enjoy the blessings of family life.
