Alyssa Abenir Zaulda (Pershing), age 20, of Dover (Parral), died tragically Tuesday, June 14, 2022, in a flash flood in Wetzel County, West Virginia.
Born January 23, 2002, in Marikina City, The Philippines, she was the daughter of Aileen Abenir Pershing and step-daughter of Randy Pershing of Dover. Alyssa graduated from Dover High School in 2020, and was currently in her sophomore year at Marietta College. She was also employed as a dispatcher with LPS Services at a refinery to help with her educational expenses.
Alyssa was bright, witty, quiet - but fun-loving, and made friends easily; she was much-loved by all who came to know her. She enjoyed online gaming, but also liked the outdoors, particularly hunting,fishing and target-shooting.
Alyssa will be dearly missed by her mother and step-father, Aileen and Randy; her boyfriend, Skyler Shuman; her aunts and uncles, Edel and Roderick DePedro, Gemma and Joy Lataquin, Jessel and Ryan Repalda, Cave, Kevin and Karina, Mike, Roger and Christine Pershing; her cousins; and her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her step-brother, John Otto Pershing, on March 23, and her aunt, Lourdes Tee, on April 4, both this year.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 140 S. Bodmer Ave., Strasburg, on Saturday, June 25, 1 - 3 p.m. A service will follow at 3 in the funeral home officiated by family friend, Tim Levengood.
Donations may be made to Alyssa’s family to help with final expenses.
