Ada C. “Cathy” Countryman, age 90, of Dover, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, in Aultman Woodlawn, Canton, following a period of declining health.
Born July 25, 1935, in Waverly, she was the daughter of the late Elsworth and Margaret (Bradbury) Blake. Ada was valedictorian of the 1953 graduating class of Beaver High School in Pike County, and she went on to study at Wilmington College. She wed Kenneth V. “Ken” Countryman on July 15, 1958; the couple shared nearly 54 years of marriage prior to Ken’s passing on April 3, 2012. Ada was employed as a teacher’s aide in the Middletown City School District for 18 years, working primarily with sight-impaired students. She moved to Dover in 1988, and was employed at the Ark Preschool. Aside from working with young people, some of her favorite pastimes were gardening and reading - she was a lifelong learner.
Ada will be dearly missed by her daughter, Kim (Scott) Robinson of Dover; her grandchildren, Kathleen E. “Katie” (Jeremy) Bible of North Ridgeville, and Andrew M. (Deveney Kowalski) Robinson of Pittsburgh; her great-granddaughters, Abigail, Madison and Alexandra; and her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, Ken, Ada was preceded in death by her siblings, Anna Fielding, Frank and John Frazier.
Private services will be held, with burial in Dover Burial Park.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Ada’s memory be made to Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44708.
