William G. Watkins

William G. Watkins, 67, of Dover, died suddenly Tuesday, February 22, 2005.

Born May 21, 1937 at Dover, he was the son of the late Gomer H. and Mildred D. Maurer Watkins.

Bill retired in 1997 from the Gradall Company where he had been employed for 39 years.

He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in New Philadelphia and had served the church as Deacon for many years. Bill was also a 32 degree mason and member of Tuscarawas Lodge # 59 F. & A.M. at Dover.

For more than 30 years, Bill was a familiar face to those entering the Tuscarawas County Courthouse. He had a keen interest in law and enjoyed sitting in on court cases, befriending many judges, attorneys, court officials and law enforcement officers over that time.

Bill treasured his family and especially looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren.

On June 23, 1963, Bill wed the love of his life, the former Joyce E. Philabaum, who survives.

He will also be sadly missed by: his loving children, Lisa (Daniel) Schott of Dover, and Timothy (Deborah) Watkins of New Phila.; and five grandchildren, Logan & Corey Watkins and Jacob, Nathan & Ryan Schott.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jim Watkins.

A service celebrating Bill�(TM)s life will be held Saturday, February 26, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Elders James Watson and Rose Lomax officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Immediately following the burial, the family will receive friends at a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.

Friends may call in the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
