William A. Moon

William A. Moon, 73, of New Philadelphia, Ohio and a former Dover resident died Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Select Specialty Hospital in Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness.

Bill retired in 1987 as a metallurgist for the Englehard Corporation in New Jersey until illness forced his retirement.

Born January 25, 1932 in Dover, he was the son of the late Oscar and Marie Hughes Moon Sr.

Bill was a 1950 graduate of Dover High School where he played football. He was a member of the Tornado Club and an avid Dover Tornado sports fan. He enjoyed traveling and reading. Following high school, he lived in Lorain and relocated to New Jersey where he resided for over thirty years. Following retirement, he returned to the area. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean War.

He is survived by two sisters, Donnie Garner and Charlene Hunter both of Dover; cousin, Robert (Lena) Morton Sr. of Dover; nieces and nephews, Michelle Hunter, Esther (Grover) Avery both of Dover, Reginald (Vernice) Hunter of Phillips Ranch, California and Monte Hunter of New York along with many great nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by one brother, Oscar Moon Jr. and two nephews, Ricky Moon and Percival Garner Jr.

A memorial service celebrating Bill�(TM)s life will be held Saturday at 1pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Pastor Robert Sherrell officiating. At his request, cremation has taken place and interment will be held at a later date in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to services.
