Wayne L. Bissell, 85, of Dover passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in the Community Hospice Truman House.

Born on July 15, 1936 in Ragersville, he was a son of the late Hugh and Frances Carson Bissell. Wayne was also preceded in death by a sister, Grace Ely, and his brothers, Robert, George and Delbert Sweebe.

Wayne proudly served his country with the United States Air Force. He was employed at Greer Steel, having retired in 1998 after 29 years of service. After his retirement from Greer, Wayne utilized his love of driving in a couple of part-time positions with Dover City Schools driving a school bus, and with Kimble Mixer Company, delivering mixers throughout the United States. Wayne enjoyed camping, and was a member of the Swiss Wheelers Camping Club; he was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Dover.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bessie Lehman Bissell whom he married on January 1, 1961; daughter, Kathleen (Ken) Smith of Dover; son, Timothy Bissell of New Jersey; former daughter in law, Melissa Bissell of West Jefferson; grandchildren, Heather (Greg) Feller, Amanda (Steven) Englehart, Melanie (John) Fahrner, Reece Bissell, Skye Bissell; great grandchildren, Carson and Nolan Feller, Olivia Englehart and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Private family services will be held at a later date.
