Ward W. Kutcher

November 5, 1918 — August 11, 2010

Ward W. Kutcher, 91, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010, in Union Hospital, after battling cancer for many years.

Born November 5, 1918, in Crawford Township, Coshocton County, he was a son of the late William G. and Mary E. Lower Kutcher. Ward attended a small country school in Chili, and then went on to serve honorably in the United States Army Air Force during the Second World War. He returned to marry the former Elsie I. Espenschied on April 29, 1949 in Ashland, Kentucky. Ward was employed for many years by the Sparta Ceramic Tile Co. from which he retired.

Ward was a down-to-earth man, who loved God, his country and his family. He was a faithful member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Dover, and found great joy in playing the guitar and singing country gospel music especially for the residents of local nursing homes. Always active, Ward could often be seen riding his bicycle around his northwest New Philadelphia neighborhood. Additionally, he was interested in local history, and belonged to the Tuscarawas County Historical Society.

Survivors include his loving wife, Elsie; four sons, Gene (Peggy) Kutcher of Dellroy, Robert (Lillian) Kutcher of Richwood, West Virginia, Ernie Kutcher of Pace, Florida, and Carl (Sherry) Kutcher of Massillon (Jackson Twp.); six grandchildren, Kim Brummel, Chad, Paul, Eric, Kyle and Stephanie Kutcher; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Ethel) Kutcher of New Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ward was preceded in death by a grandson, Dana Kutcher; two sisters, Ruth Martin and Annamae Rhon; and by two brothers, Wade and Kenneth Kutcher.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 14, at 10:30 a.m., in the Foursquare Gospel Church, Dover, with Pastor David W. Wing officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park, where the Dover post of the V.F.W. will perform military rites. Following the committal, a meal and fellowship will be shared in the Foursquare Church.
