Wanda Z. Tomblin

July 1, 1917 — December 20, 2007

Wanda Z. Tomblin, a resident of Bolivar for over fifty years, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007.

Born, Jul. 1, 1917, in Burnsville, WV, she was the only child of the late Lloyd and Jennie Caynor Workman. Wanda attended high school in Sand Fork, WV, and married Dale H. Tomblin on Sept. 7, 1933, in Burnsville. Wanda lived for Jesus and her family, and was a loving homemaker. She attended Bolivar Wesleyan Church, where she belonged to the Best Years Fellowship. Wanda was also a member of the Plus and Minus Sixties Group. She enjoyed housekeeping, growing flowers and watching the birds and wildlife around her home.

Survivors include a son, Rodney (Nancy) Tomblin of Bolivar; six daughters, Velma (John) Cramblett of Cottonwood, AZ, Voneta (Carl Willis) Dolvin and Verla (Thurman) Bailey, both of Mineral City, Viola (Donald) Yost of West Palm Beach, FL, S. Kay Tomblin and Brenda (Richard) Halchuck, both of Bolivar; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren (and one expected in June); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Clara and Larry Nohl of Bolivar; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Betty Tomblin of Dover; sister-in-law, Elva Tomblin of Zoarville; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, in 1999; a son, Rondall Tomblin; and a grandson, Kevin Dolvin, who was killed in the Persian Gulf War.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 24, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with Dr. Steve Gehrig and Rev. Jeff Mansell officiating. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover. Following the committal there will be a meal in the fellowship hall of the Bolivar Wesleyan Church, 241 Pine St. N.W.
