Virginia J. Horn

Virginia J. Horn, 80, of Dover, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, in Schoenbrunn Healthcare, New Philadelphia, from complications of Alzheimer”s Disease.

Born August 30, 1929, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late George Sr. and Mary Buciu Vlad. She was baptized in St. George Romanian Orthodox Church in Canton. Virginia graduated from Dover High School, and married Jim Horn in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dover. She was a loving wife and mother, and was employed over the years by the J.C. Penney Co., East Sparta Ceramic Tile Co., and Handy & Harmon.

Virginia was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and American Ex-POWs. In her spare time, she was fond of working jigsaw puzzles, going shopping, and going out to eat.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jim, and daughter, Deborah Horn. Additionally, she is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Vlad; and by four brothers, John, George Jr., Raymond and Michael Vlad.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 31, at 1 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Donald Rice Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park.
