Virginia Butler

January 26, 1932 — July 3, 2004

Virginia “Ginny” Butler, 72, of Dover, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, July 3, 2004.

For years she worked as a seamstress, helping several area companies. She had also spent time working for Martinelli Pools and Spas at New Philadelphia.

Born January 26, 1932 in Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Hobson and Nola Davis Duncan.

Ginny had many gifts but was exceptionally blessed with a talent for using her hands to create beautiful crafts and keepsakes. Crocheting, ceramics and sewing were her favorites. She also loved music and enjoyed playing string instruments.

She was a member of the auxiliaries of the Dover Moose and Eagles clubs as well as the Dover V.F.W.

On June 19, 1977 she wed Joseph Butler, who survives.

Other survivors include: five children, Sandy Ocheltree of Uhrichsville, Gregory E. Pope of Akron, Jackie Blickensderfer of Dover, Vicki (Bill) Beans of New Philadelphia and Vonda Butler of Dover; brother, Vernon Duncan of Tennessee; sister, Doris Harlow of Tennessee; brother Herchel Duncan of New Philadelphia; 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Ann Pope and a brother, Joe Duncan.

In celebration of a life well lived and in honor of the many lives she touched, a funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 246 E. High Ave, New Philadelphia, with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating.

Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center where a reception will be held.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd Street, Dover.
