Violet Fair Mcclain

August 25, 1927 — March 5, 2005

Violet M. Fair McClain, 77, of New Philadelphia and formerly of Beach City, died Saturday, March 5, 2005 in Union Hospital.

Born August 25, 1927 at Hametown, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Earl & Bessie Long Ashton.

In 1997, Violet retired in 1997 as an LPN from Union Hospital where she had worked for 24 years. Following her retirement, Violet relished her role as a teacher�(TM)s assistant at New Philadelphia�(TM)s York Elementary School

Violet was an active member of the Dover Bible Church. She was a member of the Joy Club and head of the church blood drive. She had volunteered time with the New Phila. Health Department doing blood pressure checks and was also a member of the Tuscarawas Chapter of the LPNO where she served for many years as treasurer. In addition, she was blessed with skilled hands and loved making crafts for church and senior groups.

She was preceded in death by her first two husbands, Charles A. Stanley and Gene N. Fair.

Survivors include: her loving husband, Merle J. McClain, whom she wed on December 3, 1987; three sons, Charles (Lynn) Stanley, Jr. of Akron, Richard (Rosemary) Stanley of Monroe Falls, and Ed (Gail) Stanley of Akron; a daughter Wanda Law of Strasburg; seven grandchildren, Debbie Stanley, Katie Stanley, Christina Stanley-Webb, Charles Edward Stanley, Brian, Heather & Kenny Law.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Violet was preceded in death by: three sisters, Rosemary Ashton, Martha Musselman, Dorothy Greene; and a brother, Robert Ashton.

Pastor Ed Scaglione will officiate a service that celebrates Violet�(TM)s life on Wednesday, March 9, at 10:30 a.m. in the Dover Bible Church. Interment will be in the Southlawn Cemetery at Beach City.

Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
