Violet Campbell

Violet Campbell, 87, of New Philadelphia, Ohio and formerly of Louise, West Virginia passed away Monday, July 29, 2002 following a lengthy illness.

A daughter of the late George and Miriam (Carter) Legge, she was born on May 29, 1915 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Also preceding her in death was her husband, George Campbell who died in 1982.

Violet attended Broadway United Methodist Church. In addition to her life-long love of dancing, Violet also bowled in the Thursday PM Homemaker�(TM)s League and was a faithful fan of the Cleveland Indians.

She is survived by four children and their spouses; Ralph A. (Kim) Brady and Gerald D. (Leila) Brady both of Wellsburg, West Virginia; John L. (Sue) Campbell of Roxboro, NC, and daughter Donna (Terry) Simmons of New Philadelphia.

Grandchildren are; Ralph (Joyce) Brady Kelli (Fred) Wenzel; Susan (Paul) Morehead, Todd (Tiona) Campbell, and April (Brian) Byrne; Gerald (Carla) Brady, Bill Brady, John (Glinda) Brady and Shelby (Todd) Richie; Eric, Kevin (Tiffany), and David Simmons. Violet was also the proud grandmother of 14 great grandchildren. Other survivors include one sister, Miriam Legge of Follansbee, West Virginia, and a sister in law, Lucille Legge of Wellsburg, W. Va., and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Viola Miller; brother George Legge; and sisters, Agnes Schumacher, Susie Cheripko, Elsie Quinn; and Nellie, Florence, Elizabeth, and Lillian Legge. Also deceased are two grandchildren, Nadine and Wesley Simmons.

Due to the current remodeling of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in New Philadelphia, funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. John McCleery and Elder Glenn Carlisle officiating. Interment will be in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. A luncheon will follow the services at the Community of Christ (Formerly R.L.D.S.) at 515 Church Ave. SW, New Philadelphia. Friends may call at the funeral home in Dover on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
