Viola T. Patrick

Viola T. Patrick, 99, of Newcomerstown, and a long-time resident of Port Washington, died Nov. 28, 2002, in Riverside Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born Sept. 28, 1903, in Brightwood, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Laura Meese Swinderman. Viola attended school in Midvale and married Corliss R. Patrick on Nov. 5, 1930, in Wheeling, WV. Corliss died on Oct. 27, 1978. Viola was a homemaker, and loved her large family.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia, and its Ladies�(TM) Goodwill Class.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Bruce) Border of New Philadelphia, and Harriett (Bill) Duncan of Gnadenhutten; three sons, Howard (Shirley) Patrick of New Philadelphia, John Floyd (Nancy) Patrick of Knox, IN, and Paul (Rene)Patrick of Houston, TX; fifteen grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frieda Aman of Navarre, and Bernice Sherrets of Stone Creek; and a brother, Samuel ( Jane) Swinderman of Newcomerstown; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Corliss, she was preceded in death by a son, Gene Patrick; a great-ganddaughter; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Patrick; a son-in-law, George Harding; three sisters and a brother.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Pastor Mike Crank of the First Baptist Church, Port Washington, will officiate. Due to the current renovation of Toland-Herzig�(TM)s New Philadelphia funeral home, the services are being held in the Dover facility. Burial will be alongside her husband in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover. Following the committal, there will be a reception in the First Baptist Church, Port Washington.
