Victor S. Renner

Victor S. Renner, 88, of Dover died Friday, December 24, 2004 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.

He was owner/operator of Victor Renner Builders in Dover and had also formerly owned Renner Coal Company.

Born September 20, 1916 at Dover, he was the son of the late Louis and Alice McCreight Renner.

Victor was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover and had served as Trustee.

His work as a developer led to his creating the Willow Glens area in Dover.

He loved camping and was active in area clubs like the Tusco Traveleers, Buckeye Bacon Burners and the Good Sam Club. He was also a member of the Modern Western Square Dancing Club, the Brandywine Grange, and had been an avis woodworker.

He is survived by his wife, the former Susan V. Freshwater, whom he wed on October 25, 1937.

Other survivors include: three sons, Roger Renner, Jerry (Barb) Renner, and Daniel (Kathleen) Renner, all of Dover; a daughter, Stefanie (Richard) Hathorn of Tyler, TX; two brothers, Marshal (Trudy) Renner of Canton, and Stanley (Madonna) Renner of Wooster; a sister, Elsie Hothem of Bakersville; a sister-in-law; Donna Renner; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by a bother, Ross Renner.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, December 28 at 10:30 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Larry Black officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday from 6-9 p.m. and one-hour prior to service on Tuesday.
