Sue M. Lewis

Sue M. Lewis, 88, of Strasburg passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 7, 2021.

She was born on March 21, 1933 in Strasburg to the late Thurman and Marguerite Slemmer Gepfert. Sue was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Ann Kaderly.

She was a 1951 graduate of Strasburg High School, and retired from Citizens Bank in Strasburg with more than 40 years of service. Sue was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Strasburg, Brandywine Grange and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid quilter who enjoyed quilting with the Busy Bee Quilters at the church. She also loved spending time with family, canning, gardening, flower gardening, playing cards with her friends and living on the family farm where she grew up.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Sue is survived by her husband of 66 years, Delmar Lewis, whom she married on January 30, 1955; children, Jack (partner, Janice) Lewis, Mark (Judy) Lewis, Linda (Mark) Conkle all of Strasburg; grandchildren, Andrew Lewis (companion, Cassidy), Amanda Lewis (companion, Nick), Angie Lewis (companion, Matt), Jordan (Ashley) Turek, Logan Turek, Evann (Bryson) Bailey, Kelly (Adam) Turley; great grandchildren, Kaylee and Kyle.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 11 starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at 140 South Bodmer Ave., Strasburg with Rev. Brian Flood officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg. The family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
