Sherilyn G. Horning

Sherilyn G. Horning, 65, of Dover went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Union Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 4, 1947 in Odessa, Texas she was a daughter of Elna Montgomery Vanderburg of Odessa and the late Harry Vanderburg. She was also preceded in death by her brother Darwin Vanderburg.

A wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and daughter, Sherilyn will be sadly missed by her husband of 36 years, John H. Horning whom she married on April 22, 1976; children, Diane (Scott) Fischer of Brecksville, Sue (Tim) Sanford of Clinton, Christi (Mike) Blackwell of Bolivar, Bob (Cindy) Horning of Spring, Texas, Dave Horning of New Philadelphia and Gina (Andy) Bieleski of West Liberty, Ohio; sister, Vicki (Lawson) Hebb of Georgia; grandchildren, Parker, Logan, Peyton, Austin, Brady, Reese, Cahya, Correa, Ethan, Alex, Emma, Jacob, Bryce, Hunter, Reghan and Zade and her beloved dog, Missi.

Sherilyn had a full life that revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren. She and her daughter, Christi, shared a strong bond as mother, daughter, best friends and caregiver. Sherilyn had a passion for music, as was evident by her talent for playing the piano. She also enjoyed working in her flower beds and had a love for animals.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A service celebrating Sherilyn's life will be held on Friday, January 25 at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Following the service, a funeral dinner will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm.
